Wood & Composite Decking

Pressure-Treated Wood
Natural look and texture, lower upfront cost, and it can be stained or painted any color you want. The tradeoff is maintenance. Wood needs cleaning and resealing on a regular cycle to hold up.
Composite Decking
Made from recycled wood fiber and plastic. It resists rot, warping, and splintering, and it never needs staining. Higher cost at install, longer service life, and almost no upkeep.

How long does it take to build a deck?
Most standard decks are completed in less than a week, depending on size, materials, and weather. Larger multi-level builds and covered structures take longer, and we'll give you a timeline with your estimate.
Do I need a permit?
Usually, though it depends on size, height, and your local jurisdiction. Requirements vary across Indiana and Ohio counties. We handle permit coordination as part of the project and will tell you what your specific build requires.
Can I upgrade an old deck instead of building new?
Sometimes, depending on the condition of what's underneath and local code. We inspect first. Tearing off gives us a look at the decking, which is usually worth doing.
Will a metal roof attract lightning?
Sometimes. If the framing and footings are structurally sound, replacing just the decking boards and railings is a real option and costs considerably less. If the substructure has rot or the original framing wasn't built to current code, a rebuild is the safer call. We'll inspect and tell you which you're dealing with.
Do you install railing and lighting?
Yes. Railing systems and stairs are part of every build, and we install deck lighting, built-in benches, and pergolas as add-ons.
What materials should I choose?
If upfront cost matters most and you don't mind resealing periodically, pressure-treated wood. If you'd rather spend more now and do nothing later, composite. We'll price both so you're comparing real numbers, not general advice.
